I appreciated the gentle telling of a woman in history that I had never known of. Elizabeth was portrayed as a woman of strength, morality, and dedication. I had never considered how much those who serve at the White House observed throughout history. This telling of the events of the Civil War focuses on the effects the war had on the people not fighting. A well told story, I am happy to know of dear Lizzy and her legacy of helping her friends and students.
