These Women by Ivy Pochoda

5.0

THESE WOMEN who work the corner, THESE WOMEN who dance in night clubs, THESE WOMEN who are discarded, THESE WOMEN who are thought of as less than, THESE WOMEN who are not heard, THESE WOMEN who are not believed.  This dark thriller is such a well-written and character-rich story about loss, longing, desires, hate and finding the truth.

DORIAN, a woman whose daughter was murdered;

FEELIA, a woman who decided to take a ride in a man’s car;

JULIANNA, a wild girl who cannot be tamed;

KATHY, a friend and mother;

ROGER, a husband with a weekly guys' game at his house;

ANNEKE, a woman who has a hard exterior;

MARELLA, a performance artist; and

ESSIE, a vice cop.

What do these people have in common?  How are they connected?  How does the life of one impact the other?  What drives people to do what they do?  The answers to all of these questions are woven together so beautifully and intricately in this book.  I could not put this book down and highly recommend it!
