Unearthed by Meagan Spooner, Amie Kaufman

I bought this book upon the knowledge that I was attending a book signing by the two authors and I am so glad that I did so. Pure Sci-Fi stories do not usually rise to the top of my TBR, but this action-packed romp had delightful twists and turns. I cannot say I expected the ending or many of the obstacles in front of the two protagonists, but that’s what made it so enjoyable. The tests were fun, Mia and Jules were both well developed and great to read about, and the ending was entirely unexpected. Great job to both authors and I look forward to the next installment. I’m not sure why this book took me so long to get through. I basically stopped reading it halfway through for no reason, but that loss of momentum was probably why it was docked a star. This story was easy to visualize and I see why it was optioned for a movie before its release. I recommend this to anyone looking for a lightly humorous adventure in space with strong protagonists.
