Another of Shepard’s war stories, this one slightly more on the fantasy side of the divide, albeit the ghost is materialized somehow by a scientist. The fantasy is, of course, not the point of the story; the point is this damaged veteran trying to come to terms with what happened during the war and how it changed him. It’s got Shepard’s trademark detailed descriptions, challenging characters, and tough guy dialogue. Well done, but not really my kind of thing.
