“Love means constantly saying you're sorry, and then doing better.”
“You are in all of my happiest places.”
“Like even when something beautiful breaks, the making of it still matters.”
This book has so many well-done tropes. I'm always surprised by how well Emily Henry can take a cliched trope and make it feel fresh. I haven't historically liked second chance romance in the past but she wove in Harriet and Wyn's original love story so well that I couldn't help but also feel broken-hearted when we figured out why they broke up. I love a good one bed / forced proximity trope and Henry pulled that off beautifully, as well.
I found this to be the least smutty of some of her other romances but the sexual tension was next level. And, frankly, I will never stop screaming about how perfect Henry is at witty batter. I had several moments when I genuinely let out an audible laugh or chuckle. That never happens to me!
I had the pleasure of reading this with a friend over the course of a day and it was such a lovely experience. It was fun to be able to stop periodically and discuss what we'd read or make predictions. We didn't finish together but we did get far enough that we both finished that evening! It's been a hot minute since I read an entire book in a day. Henry definitely has a formula to her romances but, for some reason, they never get old for me.
