Have you ever heard a horror story during a camp fire that was wonderfully horrific and so subconscious that you were not able to sleep the following night? If so, this isn't it. The setting is there and the two main protagonists are OK but somehow Moreno-Garcia fails to write the horror in the story. Montserrat and Tristan sort of stumble around Mexico City looking for clues and the ghosts and demons are written very mundanely. For a modern horror it failed in execution.
