Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
4.0

Everything, Everything is so close to my heart.

I don't understand how anyone could not like this book. It was breathtaking, funny, witty, soul-soothing and hope-filling.

I loved every moment of it.

I don't feel like I'm equipped to say whether this book was ableist as an able-bodied person but my short answer is I don't think so.

I think there was supposed to be holes in her illness so the reader would catch on that Maddy was not sick. I don't think the point of the book was to portray an accurate description of this illness and I don't think the author was using it as shock value.

I think she was trying to show the lengths love and grief will make you go. Especially a mother's love.

4 stars from me!

-Also, a black YA author, wow!!! Representation matters so much!
-A multi-racial main character and the book isn't about race! Iconic!
-A mixed race relationship and the book isn't about race, fucking brilliant!

REPRESENTATION MATTERS SO MUCH.

-Also, love is worth everything.

That is all. I can't wait to ugly cry at the movie.
