An Unfinished Story by Boo Walker

4.0

An Unfinished Story by Boo Walker is a heartwarming novel.

Claire Kite lost her beloved husband three years ago and she is finally trying to move on. After selling their house, she clears out his office and discovers his unfinished manuscript. His writing is so beautiful she feels the novel deserves to be published. Claire knows the only person she wants to complete David's work is local author Whitaker Grant.

Despite all his efforts, Whitaker has been unable to write another novel since his bestseller ten year ago. Yet he still persists in trying to work through his major writer's block. Whitaker is nursing a huge case of self-pity as he continues to lose his battle to put make any progress in his latest project. So when Claire shows up requesting he read then finish David's novel, Whitaker does not want to read it let alone complete it. But Claire is incredibly persistent and he agrees to at least read David's manuscript.

Claire and Whitaker are emotionally wounded and for each step they take forward, they sometimes take two steps back. Claire has barely begin to truly move forward and she is certain David's novel will help her completely heal. As for Whitaker, he wallows in self-pity and resists anyone's efforts to pull him out of his major funk. Worn down by Claire, he is shocked by how deeply David's novel touches him. But he knows that to do the novel justice, he needs to get to know David. Thankfully Claire agrees to spend time with him talking about David. And in the process, Claire and Whitaker begin to care for each other. But will learning about a secret that David kept from her, will Claire be willing to give love another chance?

An Unfinished Story is a heartfelt novel of healing and love. Claire and Whitaker are a little hard to like at first. However, as they grow and evolve throughout the story, they become very easy to like and root for. The storyline is engaging and tugs on the heartstrings.  Boo Walker brings this marvelous novel to an uplifting, sigh-worthy conclusion.
