I Have Some Questions for You by Rebecca Makkai

3.0

I think my rating of this book is influenced by my very high expectations. It seemed to take too long to do everything, and the level of detail didn’t help me care about the story. Is it that the subject is something we’re really familiar with already-violence against women, changing understanding of what was so inappropriate in high school, the fact that innocent people (especially black men) don’t see anything like justice from the system? Or, is it that it’s a mystery that unfolds so slowly with a protagonist who’s a little too messed up? It also just may be that it’s a little more hopeless than I need right now.
