A HIGH 3.5 stars. I mean, at first there were parts of this I wasn't sold on, but I think Hale won me over in the end. This is definitely a little different, and I appreciate that it is a stand-alone. I'm so tired of bs endings because WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE. I also really appreciated that the protagonist was biracial. I even liked the sci-fi elements. I wanted it to move a little faster at points, and some things were groan-worthy, but towards the end Hale won me over with how she wrapped up the story and the romance, and how she progressed the character.
