jeckehecke 's review for:
A Midsummer Night's Dream: Third Series
by William Shakespeare
Still one of my favourite comedies by Shakespeare, it's weird, full of puns & fairies, hilariously well written and just super funny.
Starcrossed lovers - check, weird weddings - check, lovepotion messing everything up - check, a dude with a donkey's head - check, Fairy King and Fairy Queen fighting - check, lots of jokes with bottoms and asses - check, nonsense play within a play - check, crossdressing - check... I just love it!
Quince: Francis Flute, the bellows-mender?
Flute: Here, Peter Quince.
Quince: Flute, you must take Thisbe on you.
Flute: What is Thisbe? A wandering knight?
Quince: It is the lady that Pyramus must love.
Flute: NAY, FAITH, LET NOT ME PLAY A WOMAN. I HAVE A BEARD COMING. [emphasis by me]
Quince: That's all one. You shall play it in a mask, and you may speak as small as you will.
Five Stars because I just can't help it ;-)
