What an incredible text of feminist and queer/transsexual literature. I can't even begin to mention all the things that I thought were good about this book so much of it is so foundational and important to the "debate" that's being had in American politics almost 20 years later.

I haven't been able to count the passages i highlighted for reference but nearly every page had a passage that I resonated with as a trans woman and felt was so important for all people to know and think about in our current climate.

I had some troubles with the back half where i felt some arguments and points fell a little flat but this book was written nearly 20 years ago and though it still contains important discussion to this day some of it is dated.

If you are a trans person, a queer person, or even just an ally trying to understand the trans experience and feminist perspective more this is a foundational text that will bring so much knowledge. absolutely phenomenal
