The Stars We Steal
by Alexa Donne
This is my second read of The Stars We Steal, and i wondered if it would hold up. And it totally did for me. The story/plot is definitely more complicated and twisty than Persuasion, which it is clearly based on, but it perfectly captures the angst and spirit of JA’s gorgeous novel. Leo is a lovely Anne Eliot. More modern (or rather, futuristic?), but genuine, selfless and loving. The regret, sorrow, and occasional cringey humiliation really hit all the same notes that make Persuasion my favorite Austen novel.
