Mythology by Edith Hamilton
3.5
adventurous informative relaxing medium-paced

I enjoyed this book. It was clear and well written. It's made me want to learn more about Greek mythology.

It is hard to rate because it is a reference book. I enjoyed the vast majority of it but I found the trojan war boring - not through any fault of the author, it is just not what I am interested in. I preferred the chapters focused more on the gods. I also wish the chapter near the end, Less important myths, was much longer. The following chapters on Norse Mythology seemed pointless to me. We had spent 400 pages learning about Greek mythology and greek society, so it seemed strange to then start on Norse mythology as an aside. It was so brief and surface level it was of no value to me.

Overall, the myths were told well and I appreciated the author's insights into which poet/writer she referenced in each and why she'd chosen them, and what the myth showed about the Greek people/society.
