Absolutely delightful! I liked this better than the 2nd book and felt it captured the whimsy, coziness and adventure of the first book with a whole new fantasy setting and entirely new motivations and original plot. Wendell continues to grow on me, and Emily's bookish yet sporting nature is endearing. She did annoy me occasionally (when she is parentifying, patronizing, discounting, or has lack of expression of gratitude to others, etc, I find her grating. But her neurodivergent coding makes me wonder if she genuinely doesn't realize it and therefore isn't nearly as insensitive or accountable, just struggling), but not as much as the 2nd book. A lovely adventure with charm, high stakes and the magic of masterful storytelling.
