Credence by Penelope Douglas

5.0

Penelope Douglas DOES IT AGAIN yall!!! I loved Birthday Girl so much, so I knew I had to check out Credence. It had all the romance tropes I love - an age gap, a grumpy/sunshine or enemies/lovers trope, and the spice was 10/10.

This book is definitely 18+ and very heavy on the spice, so you decide if you like that. I also think this is a book you either LOVE LOVE LOVE or hate hate hate. The taboo side didn't bother me.

I definitely thought it was going to be a reverse harem storyline, but that's not the case.

Did I have a soft spot for Kaleb, yes. Am I sad that the book is over, also yes.

Well written. I enjoyed the plotlines. I loved the way family trauma was discussed without it being overly triggering. There are some TW's needed for this though - there's some violence between the love interests, and if rape triggers you heavily, this might bother you. The scene isn't full on rape- but it's hinted at.

If you want a smutty, guilty pleasure, this is IT.
