Den of Vipers by K.A. Knight
4.0
This book was the "hardcore" reading of November for the BDSM (Bookworms doing serious marathons) book club I'm in.
Den of Vipers was the most f*cked up book i have ever read and i'm sure if you think of a trigger it will have it, but oh boy i enjoyed it a lot. First of all, it is reverse harem which i adore! Secondly, it's not for everyone. To be exact, if you can't stomach most of the bdsm triggers, please don't read it.
Plotwise, it was okay. You have a basic plot of mafia men who kidnap a girl and she fell in love with them, well a twisted kind of love. There isn't much there to explore. Some will say there is no plot, but it's there, oh boy it is there and it had me crying my eyes out. Yes yes i never believed i would be crying over a dark romance smutty smut. The writing was good. The sex was good and didn't get boring or predictable. I felt so many things *wink wink*
Characterwise, you had a variety of antihero to choose and love. Our little game in the book club was to find the man we would choose, if there was a choice. I found myself struggling to choose a favorite because let's face it we are all a Roxy and we want our Harem. But in the end the one who caught my attention was my soft broken boy Garrett (i have a thing with Garretts after reading The Deal by Elle Kennedy.. I hate to love them) and i need him to tattoo me right now. Ofcourse, you could see that the author wanted to put too many ideas in five people and in the end it was just noise. I would love for the characters to be more define, but in the end i still loved every single of them. Still i believe that Roxy is a Queen and i aspire to be like her (well... you know what i mean.. not the "killing everyone and licking my knife" but the... erm... well.... YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN..)
Overall, it's not an easy book. The mafia trope lover inside me was excited. You must be careful getting into it. That's all. Now i have to go and meet my good-looking mafia bosses-family to kidnap me for a debt and fall in love with me and make me a Queen... i cry
