2.5 stars. It pretty consistently wavered between two and three stars, but I rounded up, because it was pretty cute.
I had a lot of notes, but I lost them. Anyways, the gist of what I wanted to say was that this is undoubtedly a fun book, especially recommended for tweens, but I personally got distracted by all the plot holes and unanswered questions I had, mostly concerning the magic system. Also, I disliked howchildish stupid Bethany and Owen are, especially in the first fourth of the book. There was some cool imagery scattered throughout the book, and I hope to see more of the same, along with answers, in the sequel.
