I really feel like the fact that there are pages of this books written from a BEAR'S POV is not talked about nearly enough. I was so confused and surprised to be reading a bear's thoughts that I went on goodreads to see if anyone else mentioned it, because I couldn't quite believe what I was reading. But, yes, it had been acknowledged, and parts of this book contain a bear's POV. A black bear, if that's something you'd like to know upfront.

I enjoyed the actual story and the characters. It wasn't the most amazing book I've read, but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed that these were logical, practical people with experience in the outdoors - you never felt like yelling at a character for making a dumb choice, because they were making pretty good choices (probably better than me, as I am not outdoorsy at all).

Overall, this is probably closer to a 2.5 stars, but the bear's pov will make it hard to forget.
