Life Drawing by Robin Black

4.0

A quick, compelling read. Very accurate portrayal of the silent conversations that can sometimes haunt a marriage. I enjoyed the characters and the author's portrayal of artistic inspiration and process. Owen and Gus felt very real to me; the other characters really only served as tropes, paintbrushes Gus needed to tell her story. Though the ending was predictable (that whole thing about Chekov's gun...) and a little too tidy, Black's exploration of infidelity, memory, friendship, loyalty and creativity make Life Drawing a worthwhile and memorable summer read.
