The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

3.0

*Spoilers

I think part of the problem is I went into this book with really high hopes. I have heard nothing but good things about it and was expecting it to be this ground breaking novel. It just wasn't that for me.

I was really annoyed with Henry. I thought he was extremely stupid and naive throughout the entire story. Even when he claims to have learned. I also would have ben more interested in seeing Luc and Addie as a couple. I thought they were more interesting than her and Henry.

The one thing I did really appreciate in the book is that immediately Addie realizes that her curse is not a good thing and she messed up (unlike Henry). I also like how she never gave up and the fire stayed no matter how lonely or lost she felt.

I know this is probably controversial, but I like Luc and Addie's relationship a lot more than her and Henry's. Addie and Henry almost seemed too perfect. They were each other's manic pixie dream girl (which I get Addies was kinda supposed to be but it still annoyed me). I can only remember them having one fight and it got resolved immediately. They just hung out and loved each other. They were kinda boring and unrealistic. At least when she was with Luc there was substance there. They had problems and they had to work through them (whether they actually did or not is a different discussion).
