We Are the Dead by Mike Shackle

3.0

great concept, decent execution.

lacks depth esp when it comes to characters. im not denouncing the intended character development arcs but most of the times their actions felt really contradictory to that of their fundamental characteristics that were laid out initially and then the 0 to 180 development happens in monologue which just took me out of the story. id rather have well written character development thats not just 'monologue' and 'hyping themselves out of situation' tbh. esp for a book that has around 500 pages?

so like i mostly didnt really give a crap about what happens to any of the characters since none of them were "likeable" as in their motivations were shaky at best. i did like darus tho, but moreso his concept? his character felt as static/empty as any other but i really liked where it was going initially.

this would have been a pretty good read considering the writing flows really well and is pretty good. i just wish the characters were written better.
