Persuasion by Jane Austen

3.0

This was a book recommended by other books.

And always the same scene.

I read it for The Letter (tm).

It was a tedious wade to it.

This was my first and likely last foray into Austen.

I didn’t love it. The story was good but the writing wasn’t. I wanted to be immersed in story. Instead I was told *about* the story.

I wanted to feel Anne’s yearning but it seemed I was a quarter into the book before she was even allowed to speak. All the emotion and interest in their story was hidden behind wordy descriptions instead of allowing the reader to experience it with them. (Don’t tell me she was sad - show me her sadness, etc)

3.5 stars for beezus.
