I really enjoyed the book and it was hard to put down because I wanted to keep reading and find out what happens next. I like the characters and friendships in the book.
Compared to fourth wing this book feels more rushed and I wish we got some more world building and more outfleshed fighting scenes, they fall a little flat and feel underwhelming. There wasn't as much character development in this book and the relationships are the same as the first book.
My main let down with this series as a whole is that my expectations were too high, since it often gets compared to throne of glass. I was hoping it would be more fantasy focused and have better world building. But it still is a entertaining experience and I loved hearing Violets experience with her disabilities in the first book.
