Fallen Saint by Monica James

5.0

Wow. I didn't think I liked this as much as the first, but the last 50 pages - holy hell what a rollercoaster. I literally just put the book down and I am physically shaking.
Up until the last 50 pages, I was going to give this a 4 star because it definitely has a lull in the middle of the book and isn't as fast-paced as the first book (not that much could top the constant action of the first book) but I decided to give it 5 stars because if making me physically shake isn't a sign of how amazing, gripping, intense, soul-consuming this was then I don't know what is.
The writing was definitely better in this one, still the occasional expletive sentence here or there and some very obvious hinting but overall it's so exciting that I forgive it for that.
I still adore the characters - especially Saint. I feel like you see less of a strong Willow in this book but she is by no means meek. I actually really liked Alek, I thought he was a fun and conflicting character that I still don't trust but have an appreciation for.
Also...Harriette Pot Pie 2 stole the show once again for me.
There wasn't any humour in this unlike the first, which was a little disappointing, but I can understand why there wasn't any.
I am starting the next one straight away because damn that ending!
Can't recommend this enough.
