This book was different from most things that I've read before. That's not totally a good thing. Firstly, the characters are really fleshed out. The interactions between characters were really interesting and I thought it was done well.
On to the romance, I thought that the romance in this book was kind of forced. It seemed like the two main characters hated each other then one just decided to like the other one. There didn't seem to be much of a change in the one character for her to begin to like the male lead that much.
Now for the worldbuilding. There really isn't any. We get info dumps several times in the book to explain the Old Gods and the New Gods along with why the drudges showed up. But besides that we get no information about how the world works, politics-wise, and we don't get much information about what the gods actually do. I just didn't feel like the world was that explained and I felt confused most of the time. The world building just wasn't there for me.
The characters were the shining stars of this book.
