This book is disgusting. A kidnapped 17 year old, unwilling, is assaulted and made inebriated before being made to have sex with the “hero”, ie the kidnapper: a 29 year old man who leads an entire army and has all the power in their dynamic. Though he seems to come to value her in some small ways, when she takes the chance to escape as any reasonable human would, he bears a vast and unreasonable grudge, while the entire English nation terms her the Scottish Slut.
I reiterate: this book is sexist, misogynistic crap, with abuse excused because “history” and “enemies-to-lovers trope”.
I wish there were a way to get some of these more disgusting books pulled.
DNF at 53% and most of that was skimming in the vain hope the story would get better.
