The beginning of the book where the relationship with Carter and Nicholas is being built seemed a bit disjointed to me. There needed to be more development besides they met in Iran and the got invited to this weird house in Vermont and then bought it? It was strange to me. I did however really enjoy Katherine's part of the story and the dissection of Nicholas and Bet's marriage. All of that seemed real, believable, tangible... I didnt like the last chapter where the world was on the cusp of collapse though. What a real downer. I understand it was meant to spark the reader's thinking but to me it was again one of those things that seemed disconnected or forced into the book instead of being natural. This book would have most definitely benefited from having a few more chapters dedicated to Nicholas' work, Harry's character development, and honestly a better ending. I didn't hate this book, thoroughly enjoyed the middle part and beginning of the end, but there was still some left to be desired.
