The Four Horsemen: The Conversation That Sparked an Atheist Revolution by Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris

4.0

Things to keep in mind when you read this.

-This is not a book. It's a transcript of a conversation. I see many reviewers commenting that it isn't like the books written by these speakers. Or that they don't delve deep enough or with enough specifics. These guys are speaking off the top of their heads. They cite specifics better then most could under those circumstances. But The God Delusion, this is not.

-This wasn't set up to convince anyone of anything. It's a conversation we get to witness after the fact. A conversation by smart people who feel a particular way about a particular subject. Reading this isn't meant to flip a switch in your head to change your mind. It's just meant to spark ideas. Or be entertaining.

-These four speakers disagree with each other, often. It's great. They challenge each other, often on specific and critical things. People often think you need to provide a perfectly united front when making your case. But that makes people look disingenuous. This is honest. And more challenging.

-It hurts that Hitchens isn't here to add an essay.

-The next conversations needs people who aren't white dudes. Seriously people. Find some women and POC. They exist and need to be heard.

Overall I really enjoyed this and added like a half dozen books to my Want to Read list from these guys. Sometimes it's just nice to know you're not alone in how you think. There's strength in that.
