Let the Right One In
by John Ajvide Lindqvist
A rare case where I enjoyed the movie more than the book (admittedly my mistake might have been watching the movie first...) but I just found it a very slow book to get invested in.
Some of the early introductions to characters were little bland or lacking for me. I found it hard to care much about them, up until I reached around the half way point.
I saw someone elses review that pointed out how the movie "hints" at things, whereas the book spells things out in capital letters. I think this is the exact issue I had with the character of HÃ¥kan, a lot of his earlier scenes in the book were incredibly uncomfortable to read. Though his later scenes are some of the creepiest I've come across
By the end of the book, I was definitely gripped. Overall it's just a really good vampire story.
