Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
5.0
I loved this novel, which took me by complete surprise. I’ve read three other of Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s books, and each of them was mediocre-to-decent. This one blew them all out of the water.
It’s gritty, it’s bloody when appropriate, it’s violent when appropriate; all of the characters are interesting, and the writing is *tight*, which was a complaint of mine about the rest of her books. I loved the way she approached the different vampires as different species; the more biologic approach really enlivened the worldbuilding for me. And the plot of this novel ripped. More gritty, modern vampire urban fantasies, please.
