A Bad Deal for the Whole Galaxy by Alex White

4.0

Really dang good. Fantastic characters, riveting action, big stakes, solid writing, the works—this book is an absolute blast. My same issues as in Book 1: the unexplained hand-wavy ‘it-just-works’ combination of science fiction and magic, Nilah’s use of British slang, all the ships referred to as he. I recognize that these gripes are all just preference, but they also all felt like things the author chose to do just to be ~different~, and so they were all consistently jarring instead of immersive. Not enough to deter me from enjoying the heck out of this book, though! Excited for Book 3.
