Naomi was a page-turner, which I was not expecting in the least. I seriously read the entire book in a matter of hours because I simply couldn't put it down. It starts off amusing, enthralling even at certain points, but by the end you just want to bang your head against the wall. With that out of the way, it was smoothly written. The transition from one page to the next, one chapter to the next, was damn good.
The story itself just sucks you in, leaving you intrigued, apalled and overall stunned. Its contents is considered to be rather scathing as there is plenty of promiscuity to keep your eyes wide and lips turned up in a grin. When I look at the time period that it was written in (1940s Japan), I can see why it's viewed as such.
I thoroughly loved reading this book very much and highly recommend it to any Asian literature loving folks out there.
