Rogue by Julie Kagawa

3.0

I was SO excited to read this book. There was so much potential and promise. And I LOVE Julie Kagawa. With this book I was hoping for much more than what Talon, the first book in the series, gave us. I wanted more from Ember, more detail about Talon and the Order, more Garret, and more Cobalt. I was fully prepared to love this story.

What I got: More Talon, more Cobalt, a tid bit more of the Order, the same Ember who has NOT learned a thing, and a pushover Garret.

What I liked in this book:

Julie gives us a more in depth look at both Talon and St. George. Again there were different PoV that I liked.

Now what I didn't like:

The love triangle. It was just too much. It took over much of the book. It was cheesy and there was no chemistry between any of the characters. Ember drove me crazy. She may have a brave side to her, but she is also reckless, careless, and impulsive. Garret was just there. He didn't really do much, except be there, in the background, for whenever Ember decided to give him some attention. Dante drove me crazy. Cobalt I liked but he was willing to throw so much away for Ember. I fail to see why. Dragon Ember? I'm not impressed.

Again there wasn't as much fire-breathing or wars and battles that I would've liked to see. I really only want to give this book 2.5 stars, but since it is Julie, I'm generously rounding up to 3 stars.

As for the next book in the series, I hate not finishing a series, but it won't be one I'm eager to pick up and read. Which is disappointing. I'll be on the lookout for a dragon book that will hold my interest.
