This was a really unique and engaging read. It's YA Fiction, so exactly the amount of sci-fi that I can handle. I was pleased to figure out one major plot device that will impact the sequel but surprised by some of the elements she included in the book. Polyamory/wider undersatndings of sexuality/gender, open discussions of feminism and political theory, cultural norms - things that were hinted at in the YA books when I was a teen but are openly named here. I enjoyed it!
