Crown Duel by Sherwood Smith

3.0

Overall I thought this story was fun. The world that Smith created was interesting and well crafted. The characters were flawed but loveable. It was a fun and interesting read. However. It was fairly predictable and the main character was SO prideful! She passed fast judgement on the Marquis and refused to let go of it no matter what transpired. She had so many reasons to change her mind about the Marquis and yet she trusted characters that were not trustworthy long before she was able to let go of her prejudice. My goodness this drove me crazy to no end! The romance in this novel was cute but too close to the end of the book! Smith could have done so much more with these two characters and their love story. I LOVE a good romance! This book did not fulfill my need for romance. However, if you're not looking for a romance and can overlook the predictable aspects of the story it really was a fun read! I enjoyed all other aspects of this book. I'm grateful I read it but I don't see myself reading it again... However, if there are more stories that take place in this world and maybe even have some of the same characters in it... I may be willing to give them a try!
