Again, I devoured this book! I am learning that the hype for Emily Henry is legit. I find myself sooo invested in the way she writes. I secretly hope I would be cool enough to be best friend's Nora but would definitely be a secret admirer of hers from afar. These characters yall!!! This setting! The meet cute that wasn't a meet cute! I love how Emily weaves tragedy and strength into her characters. She does such a beautiful job handling the unknown emotion that is grief. I absolutely LOVED Julia Whelan- she did such a phenomenal job with both of these characters. I just can't with how much I loved this book. I loved reading Nora's thoughts about all things Charlie and how they ever so slowly shifted from loathe to lust to much much more. I love how he saw her as this beautifully, perfect strong woman. And how he helped her see that about her too. I also loved the relationship between Nora and Libby. Nora was her protector. She was supposed to make sure everything was perfect for Libby no matter the cost, but she hadn't realized how much Libby needed to know Nora could be on her own. The way that Emily navigated the relationship between these sisters was phenomenal!

Nora loves her job as a literary agent. She has ridden the wave of one of her oldest clients and her success despite what Charlie Lastra said about the book that was her breakthrough. Out of nowhere Nora's sister wants to go to the town where the infamous book takes place. A small town in the middle of nowhere North Carolina. Libby (Nora's sister) has made them a list of things they have to achieve while on this vacation. Also Libby is like 6 months pregnant at this point so no arguments, Nora is in. She is not surprised at how small this small town is. She is not surprised that everyone seems to know everyone. What she is surprised at is seeing Charlie Lastra, one of the best book editors, here is said small town. She is also surprised that she realizes he is hot and he is here in this small town with her. She ends up running into him while her and Libby are out and about because of course there are only like 4 restaurants here and she finds herself surprised by how easy it is to talk to him. She finds herself attracted to him! So when her client reaches out with a new book, Charlie says he wants in. He wants to co-edit this book with Nora. He wants to see these drafts live and live it together. Nora and her client agree and now Nora finds herself not only seeing hot Charlie around town but now actively working with him. She has to ignore this pull to him. He has made it clear that his life is complicated. She knows she is complicated and yet she can't stop thinking about it now that she is supposed to. They can't fight it any longer and it is just perfection. Charlie makes her feel ALIVE. He makes her feel unlike anyone has ever been able to make her feel. He validates her strength and her New Yorkness and her everything. So when he throws her a curveball on why his life is complicated, they decide to live it up. There is a time limit on what this is now between them. Meanwhile Libby comes clean with what this trip was all about. And Nora finds herself wondering if she will be able to take this next giant step alone after she has experienced this love and friendship that she has over the past few weeks. Because if she knows anything she knows when she makes up her mind...or does she??

I felt so many things reading this book. I felt kinship with these characters. I laughed out loud at the banted and thought processes. I cried with relief and happiness and sadness. I sat at the edge of my seat asking myself WHY WON'T THEY JUST GIVE IN and then WHEN are they going to give in. I honestly can't decide if I like Gus or Charlie more- they were both just SUCH great MMCs with the perfect amount of baggage and cuteness and realness. If you haven't read any of Emily's books I am here to say you are MISSING OUT!!

Real question- is it too much to get all of these books in the UK covers because I LOVE them!! Happy reading :)
