This book was written in a very personal manner, clearly portraying real life experiences and relationships that Halsey have had. There's a lot of focus on toxic relationships. She also focuses on memories from her childhood, and brings in themes like body image and depression. This book is mostly sad, but have a few hopeful elements in it sometimes. I like it when she is angry at people who mistreated her. The storytelling is good, such as in the poem "fun girl", where you get a very clear picture of what her life used to look like.
The reason why I haven't rated it 5/5 is because I didn't relate to a lot of it, some parts where kind of scattered and I couldn't keep up with it (imo), some things were very specific to her own life history, and also there were parts filled with too many writing clichés 😅 At times the poetry really did feel like 2014 tumblr, but it was still good.
