For the most part, this is my favorite so far of the Shetland novels. The case is really interesting and Jimmy is on his own for most of the investigation and does a great job of getting to know the various suspects and witnesses. I was really shocked about a development at the end and was sad about the direction the plot took. It is still a well-written, complex mystery set in an intriguing location.
