Pretty interesting read. There are lots of footnotes so that non-medical people, like me, among us can understand what he’s talking about. If you don’t have a close friend who’s British, you might want to keep a smartphone or tablet nearby so you can check the meanings of a lot of the slang.
Through Adam’s diaries, we see how he sacrificed a normal life for his profession. The intense pressures at work, sleepless nights, and loss of friendships due to a demanding job and hospitals that do nothing to protect the physical and mental welfare of its doctors. Physicians are no longer respected and many are fleeing the field in droves.
