Shadow Me by Tahereh Mafi was told through the eyes of Kenji Kishimoto. Kenji is known as the funny and optimistic character, but reading his perspective of the world, readers find that he isn’t always the sunshine character everyone see’s. His past is dark and his feelings strong, but he would do anything to protect the people he cares about.
I liked reading about his perspective, but the reason it is not a 4 star read is because a lot of it I wanted to skim through (though didn’t) because I was re-reading scenes. They were told through Warner, so it wasn’t necessary to read it again through Kenjis perspective. Overall, recommended.
