Recursion is like if Inception and The Midnight Library had a freaky, epic baby. It was a wild, mind-bending rollercoaster of a book that kept me tearing through the pages. What an awesome note on which to end the year!!
Barry Sutton is a New York City detective intrigued by False Memory Syndrome - an apparent pathogen that is plaguing its victims with complete memories of a life they never lived. Nine years prior, Helena Smith, a genius neuroscientist, is trying to create a cure for Alzheimer's by building a device that triggers forgotten memories. Little does she know, she is the root of FMS and humanity's doom . . .
There is so much complexity in the plot and the research that was done to back it up - I am honestly so impressed by the author's brain when I read novels like this. Not only that, but the characters were believable and convincing. There was an emotional depth there as well that I was grateful for.
If you like sci-fi or thrillers, look no further! Recursion is the book for you.
