The Bridge Kingdom
by Danielle L. Jensen
I wanted to love this book! It had all the ingredients of my perfect fantasy romance cocktail: warrior princesses, political intrigue, and a lush, tropical world that felt like Pirates of the Caribbean meets El Dorado. And for a while, I was hooked! The opening had me riveted. Spy princesses? Betrayal? A marriage of convenience with deadly stakes? Sign me up.
But after a strong start, the story slowed down. There was a lot of daily routine and buildup before the big moments, which helped develop the characters but made the middle drag a little. When the climax finally hit, it was great! I just wish the pacing had kept up with the enchanting world that had been built.
I liked it, but not enough to rush into the next book. Maybe I’ll revisit the series later and I'll be eating my words.
