Chaos at Prescott High
by C.M. Stunich
Read this legit right after finishing the first book. SO GOOD. Addictive for sure so let's get into it.
Again, I'm surprised how much the plot drives the story and how intrigued I've been the entire time. The gang stuff is interesting but the idea of Bernie's list getting done while other stuff occurs just makes me want to get to the end. You know she's gonna get her revenge but at what cost and will every single person get theirs or will people escape? And at what point will the HAVOC boys lose their influence because there's this underlying feeling that eventually that could happen.
I looooooved the growing relationships between everyone in this second book. We got more with Hael and his actual feelings instead of just his wiener. We got so much more from Callum which I loved (his dancing is actually adorable) and FINALLY we got some more resolution with Aaron -- I'd been waiting for that. Their little reuniting was *chef's kiss*. I honestly get conflicted with the Oscar situation. I do however like that it's sort of her trying to chase/break him down, because normally it's the other way around. (I'm still blown away that he was a virgin -- that was crazy).
The whole marriage thing is an interesting touch too. The fact Victor has this sort of...tangible hold on Bernie is an odd shift in the dynamic especially because he's boss. It's complicated and I love it. I also love that Bernie isn't totally sure what her feelings are for everyone. Like she loves the boys but isn't the best at expressing her feelings so she sort of lets them guide things. It's an interesting dynamic for sure.
I loved that we finally got some vengeance too. Her list of people is getting completed and watching her enemies drop is beyond satisfying.
The one thing I'll say that is sort of starting to piss me off is how possessive Victor is. Like Bernie is a free spirit (clearly) and she cares for every single one of the boys. She wants to be with all of them and he's sort of boxing her in, making it seem like once they get married she's only his which is crap. I get that that's "his thing" or whatever, but she's gotta put her foot down.
I also really want to see more of them all ~together~ if you catch my drift. We got a small little bit of it when Victor got all pissed about her and Hael but it was sort of cut short/not what I reaaaalllly wanted.
Regardless, so entertaining and I'm currently tearing through book 3. :)
