Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

5.0

JEM. MOTHERF------. CARSTAIRS. PERIODT.

I don't regret putting other books aside and reread this.

Clockwork Prince
It felt so much of a sin that I am not going to pick this up after Clockwork Angel. I had no intentions of rereading the whole series but I think I got myself in a situation that I don’t really want to pull myself out of.

I took a break from the Shadowhunter world but I found that I really couldn’t focus on the book I was reading as my heart and my mind was crawling and begging me to pick up the next story.

Clockwork Prince in a nutshell:
Tess was still in the London Institute and was contributing her help and skill to the Shadowhunters to catch her brother and the Magister. The love triangle goes deeper.

The Review
I was so glad that I picked up this book. HAHA. I couldn’t imagine my joy when I held it again. The best thing in this book probably is the side love stories. I love that they were given highlights especially Henry and Charlotte. But what’s better was Gideon and Sophie (they are my second favorite pair in this series!).

In this book there was more Jem and Tessa and I just...

This is me walking in Will’s line for years. And this is also me falling hard for Jem in this reread:

I have no intention of getting back up.

The plot in this book was balanced. There was enough time for the romance, the back stories, and the plot to progress. I honestly think that The Infernal Devices is where Cassie Clare’s writing reached a peak.

I have heard that people say this is their least favorite in the Shadowhunter Chronicles because of the simplicity of the plot line. But for me, it is its strongest suit. Because the plot was simple than the rest, it would give you more time to appreciate the other things that were involved with the world building.

The story really moved in this book. The only thing that didn’t was my love for Will. Sure, I still love that little destructive beautiful boy, but Jem Carstairs...

Favorite quotes:
“But you love her.”
Will stared at him. “Of course, I do,” he said finally. “I had come to think I would never love anymore, but I love her.”
two:

“This,” he said, “is Will’s room.”
“Gracious,” Tessa said. “I’ve never been here. I was starting to imagine he slept upside down, like a bat.”
three:

He went on determinedly. “To tell you of my feelings first, before I showed them. To write poetry for you--”
“You don’t even like poetry,” Tessa said, her voice catching on a half laugh of relief.
“No. But you make me want to write it. Does that not count for anything?”
JEM. MOTHERFUCKING. CARSTAIRS.

four (my favorite of all):

Will count not look at Jem; he looked instead toward the wall, where their shadows blended together in relief, so that one could not tell where one boy ended and the other began.
I have a lot of favorite quotes in this book but I’m not about to list them all out.
