The hero in this was very meh to me, I did not like the toxic masculinity. But I loved the heroine and she more than made up for it. The political intrigue was also super interesting. And in typical Alyssa Cole fashion, I cried multiple times. Honestly, Alyssa Cole can do no wrong and I will eventually read her entire backlist and of course, read all her new releases. (The next book is a lesbian Anastasia retelling and I'm dying! Anastasia was always one of my favorite movies and the real-life story has always fascinated me).
