Die kleine Meerjungfrau: und andere Märchen by Hans Christian Andersen
4.0
Before I talk about the storys itself, I just want to mention that the illustrations by MinaLima in these books are just beyond beautiful. I'm collecting all of them and they are so worth the money, since it gives you a whole new way of experiencing these storys. There was so much love that went into every detail and they add so much to the beautiful storys. So the illustrations of course get 5/5 stars.
Now, talking about the storys itself. Some of the storys in this book were super interesting to read, since I absolutely loved the Disney movies. But beware, the movies were very clearly just inspired by these storys and are not an adaptation. As it is normal for fairytales, they are a lot more gruesome and brutal than the Disney movies.
I especially enjoyed the storys called "The Ugly Duckling" and "The Emperor's New Clothes". The inspirations for "The Little Mermaid" and "Frozen" ("The Snow Queen") were also super interesting to read since they were just so incredibly different from the movies.
Overall, the storys in this book are a quick read but also super fascinating and the illustrations of course beyond beautiful.
