Wolf Hollow by Lauren Wolk

The audio version of this book is great. I was surprised by the level of violence in the story so that's why I'd consider this to be more of a YA book than a book for children. Although kids deal with bullying, this actually lead to accusations of attempted murder.
Annabelle and her younger brothers deal with physical harassment doled out by a new teen girl at school, Betty Glengarry. Betty was actually pretty sadistic in her techniques. When Annabelle's best friend is irreversibly injured, Annabelle tries to get the adults to see that Betty is the problem. But the people in town have come to place their suspicions on a war veteran, Toby, who wanders the woods.
Betty goes missing and the sheriff begins to look for Toby. Can Annabelle find Betty, protect Toby and stop Betty from hurting anyone else? Or will an innocent man take the fall for Betty?
