I must say this book was something of a shock to me. Of course, I was familiar with the general idea of the story, so that wasn’t a surprise, but the execution was startling.
It reminds me very much of The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. The conversation of man’s duality is one that I will have to think more on, but these two works do an admirable job of displaying it. I especially like the portrayal of evil and its effects on humanity. Well — not “like” but admire.
It was much shorter than I anticipated but so packed with intention that it took me longer than usual to finish. I will likely reread it in the future to refresh my mind.
A good suspenseful short read if you’re looking for one! Very dark.
