A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

Holy hell this was amazing! The plot twists just kept coming and I was caught off guard by almost every single one of them!

Feyre and Tamlin's abusive relationship and the beginning chapters of her isolation was painful to read, and I realated to it to much. It hurt to see her justification for everything the spring court did because of the "love" they shared. To him she was a prize to be one, a reward to prove that he had power. I didn't trust Ianthe the moment she appeared and I was disappointed by how little Lucian actually was willing to do for her.

Rhys and Feyre are the couple of the century, the chemistry between the two is electric and they constantly go between raw and real and flirty and fun. Their shared pain and trauma helped both of them heal and support each other, and the amount that Rhys was able to do for her when she just needed time was amazing. The more spicy scenes between them were surprising and captivating, they have a warmth and lovingness that the Tamlin/Feyre scenes never had. On top of Rhys just being more attractive.

The inner circle of the night court are amazing characters and I really feel like I know who they are. The spring court members seemed so secretive, but the night court is just they are who they are. I'm hoping that Morrigan and Azriel can become something, but I love how it also feels like their is just platonic love and loyalty between all the members of the inner circle. The Starfall party was my favoritre scene.

I didn't trust the human queen's when they were introduced, but I was SHOCKED when Tamlin was the person who sold them out. For some reason I was still holding out hope that he wouldn't go that far, but once again he proves how unlikeable and possesive he is. I also did not see Elain and Nesta becoming fae, and I truly thought Elain was going to die. Her and Lucien being mates is definitely going to cause some waves, hopefully it means Feyre will have an ally in the spring court while she does her spying on Tamlin.

Overall I loved this book so much more than I originally thought and it kept me invested. I didn't want to stop listening to it. I will want to reread this, in a hard copy, so I can actually highlight and note things because there were so many good lines.
